A Bendable Bright Light for You and Me! A Giveaway!

So recently I have found a couple of new favorite sewing tools! And today I can’t wait to share with you something I received recently from our new sponsor, Sewing Parts Online! The Dreamworld Bendable Bright Sewing Light!

Brightlight-Main-ImFeelinCrafty

My sewing studio is in a windowless room in our downstairs (which is technically a day-lit basement, but I like to call it our downstairs!). It’s pretty bright when all the lights are on, but the shadows from the lights, etc, make the space under my machine kinda dark. So when I was contacted by Sewing Parts Online, to try out their new product, the Bendable Bright Light, I didn’t think twice and said, ‘Oh, Yeah!’

Brightlight-Before-ImFeelinCrafty

So this is what my machine area looked like before the light!

Brightlight-After-ImFeelinCrafty

And this is what it looks like now!

Brightlight-LIght3-ImFeelinCrafty

So some of you might not understand what I am about to explain, but bear with me… I live in Seattle, right? It’s pretty grey here most of the year, right? So when the some first comes out in the Spring, we don’t really know what to do! Who knows what we did with our sunglasses since the list time the sun was out! So we kinda wander around squinting for a while…. And that’s kinda what I did when I plugged in my light for the first time! It’s so bright and wonderful!

Brightlight-LIght1-ImFeelinCrafty

The light comes with a little ‘stand’ you could call it that sticks to your machine. You can take the light out if you need to move your machine, etc.

Brightlight-PLug-ImFeelinCrafty

The only thing that some people might not like is that it has to plug in. To me, this isn’t an issue. For one, I don’t have to worry about batteries. And I have a plug right next to my machine that it can plug into and the cord won’t get in the way of sewing. It does also come with six removable adhesive clips to hold the wire out of the way.

Brightlight-LIght2-ImFeelinCrafty

The light is perfect for sewing! But it’s also flexible so that you can move it around for when you are seam ripping (which doesn’t happen often at my house! HA! just kidding!) or when you are threading a needle. And of course, you can use it for anything. Woodworking. Trying to read the fine print. Since I’m sitting at the beach, making fishing lures comes to mind! Not that I make those, but you might!  It doesn’t have to just be for sewing! But of course, that’s what I’m going to use it for!

And guess what?? Sewing Parts Online is offering one for one lucky winner!!

A ‘Love’ly Coat and a Giveaway!

What a week! This week has been CRAZY emotional for me over our adopted dog, who we decided is wonderful, but too much for our family and is going to find a new home, and a sick husband. AHHHH! Anyway, on to the story at hand. Oh, and a cool giveaway!!DearMyKidsCoat-main-I'mFeelin'Crafty

This week’s challenge on Project Run and Play was to make something inspired by Valentine’s Day. Hmmmm… Of course hearts comes to mind first, but hearts aren’t always very boy-ish…. Even so, I decided it would be something with a heart, but an anatomically correct heart. And I wanted it over the kiddos heart. Then I saw an outfit in the blogosphere somewhere, in passing through websites, of a little punk rock kid in red and black plaid. That’s when I remembered my Dear My Kids coat pattern that I’ve had for 2 years and never made!

DearMyKidsCoat-Coat-4-I'mFeelin'Crafty

And of course, after purchasing it 2 years ago, I couldn’t find it when I needed it! So I started chatting with Karen, the owner and designer of the Dear My Kids shop, and we came up with a great idea! A Giveaway for you!! Three lucky readers gets to choose the pattern of their choice from her shop! Yea!

DearMyKidsCoat-pattern-I'mFeelin'Crafty

The pattern is great! Extremely fantastic instructions and illustrations to get you through it. A couple of times I was like, I’m going to do it my way, but then last minute decided to do it how the directions told me to. I was always (it only happened twice) glad I did it the pattern way. She knows what she’s talking about!

DearMyKidsCoat-Coat-3-I'mFeelin'Crafty

I loved the Unisex Pea Coat! I was excited to make a nice looking coat for the kiddo. Since we live in the rain, most of our coats are rain coats, not pretty coats! I think this might be the first coat I’ve made.

DearMyKidsCoat-Pocket-I'mFeelin'Crafty

I was able to use my red and black plaid as the lining and the anatomically correct heart as a pocket. And in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I added the ‘I’ and the ‘you’ to make ‘I heart you!’ You know, just in case he’s walking down the street one day and forgets that someone loves him. He can just check out his pocket and remember that Momma loves him!

DearMyKidsCoat-button-I'mFeelin'Crafty

Sometimes when I’m designing the kiddo’s clothes it’s easy to forget to add those nice little details that take it to the next level. But this one was different. From the pattern I was able to add some of these extras details, like for interest, I love the little strap and button on the sleeve!

DearMyKidsCoat-Eaten-I'mFeelin'Crafty

I didn’t get my project photographed and blogged about in time for the ‘competition’ side of Project Run and Play. This might sound like a dog ate my homework line, but he didn’t. (well, he did actually start… see the missing part of thepattern?) He actually ate my pin cushion! Seriously! He shredded my pincushion and spread the pins and saw dust all over the downstairs. And unfortunately, he swallowed one. He’s at the vet now recovering from stomach surgery! Poor thing. The vet looked at me and said, ‘Momma, that’s a lot of pins.’ Well, yeah, I sew… How was I to know he’d stand up on my workspace and eat a pin cushion??? Anyway….

DearMyKidsCoat-Coat-2-I'mFeelin'Crafty

That’s the bad news… The GOOD news….

Wohoo! It’s my birthday!!

I came home today and my son and Mom had made this beautiful cake for me and picked me two bouquets! One of up stairs and one for next to my bed. So as Max says, ‘You can see it at night and then you can see it when you wake up in the morning!’ Then he took me on a tour of the back yard showing me where all the flowers had come from! I love that the cake only has three candles. Does that mean I’m thirty again?? Yes! I’ll go with that!
