The Sew Fab Tour- Bowling Shirt

I think I have found my favorite new button up shirt pattern!

BowlingShirt-Main-ImFeelinCrafty

It’s so easy! Seriously! It’s the Bowling shirt Pattern by by Scientific Seamstress that is part of the Sew Fab Pattern Sale going on now through May 13th!

Sew Fab 600x300 blog image

Awesome sale by the way….

BowlingShirt-Front1-ImFeelinCrafty

I was asked to be a part of the pattern sale blog tour and of course I said yes! And was excited to be able to sew this shirt. I kinda avoid dress shirts, with the collar and all, but after Easter and my son loving getting dressed up, I knew I needed to step it up and make him a few more nice shirts.

BowlingShirt-Front3-ImFeelinCrafty

So I was looking through my stash for fabric and found this one my son and I picked out a year ago. Love it! And no, I didn’t pick it to match the bowling bowl. That was purely a happy accident.

BowlingShirt-Ball-ImFeelinCrafty

The pattern is so easy to make. The instructions are super long, though. But want to know why??? She gives you about a million different styling options! Ok, maybe more like 5 or 6. I chose the one stripe down the front. (obviously…)

BowlingShirt-Back-ImFeelinCrafty

And I did the solid back. In the options there is an option to do a stripe across the back, but I just loved the fabric so I left it as just one piece of fabric.

BowlingShirt-Front2-ImFeelinCrafty

The instructions are long, like I said, but they are super easy. And very well illustrated for each step of the way. I almost didn’t even need the pictures though! And you get to skip a lot of pages, depending on how you want to do it, so you feel like you are moving right long super fast!

And it is super fast!

BowlingShirt-Front4-ImFeelinCrafty

For finsihing she gives a few options there as well. Your normal serged edges, etc, but also she gives you instructions on a lined version. I went unlined, the size a bit bigger, for the more casual then fitted look. I also added in some french seams where I could!

BowlingShirt-Snaps-ImFeelinCrafty

Now for the buttons…. I did mention it was a button up shirt and you may notice snaps again… Well, my machine was on the fritz, so it was doing my buttonholes worse then usual. (I got so frustrated with the machine, not the pattern, that I called the fix it shop mid shirt just to chat with them about it. I needed someone to talk to! ) So, I resorted to my old standby, the snap. But here’s tanother beauty to this pattern. It’s set up so button holes are the last thing you make. The button holes are done early, so in case you meess them up like I did you can go back and redo that one piece. Not the whole shirt!

Which pattern are you going to sew first? I can’t wait to show you the one I already sewed….

The More Girlie Side of the Sew Fab e-Pattern Sale

Ok, so the other day I showed you my non-girlie favorites that I’d be more likely to sew. But like I said, that doesn’t mean I don’t love all the girlie patterns either! They are fantastic, too! So I have to show those as well….

But QUICK! Buy ASAP, because the ale only lasts through October 8th (tomorrow) at 8AM EST.

Sew-Fab-F13-Collage-600x539

So here we go…. Let’s get our girlie on!

ruffle dress

And we might as well start with ruffles, huh? SInce we’re talking girlie here! How cute is the Ruffle Dress from Sumo’s Sweet Stuff!

nightgown

And where is that class for upsizing patterns?? Can I upsize a pattern from kid to adults??? I want this nightgown just for me! Doesn’t the Sadie Grace Nightgown from Seamingly Smitten look soooo comfy??? And it looks simple to make as well!

bimaa

There have been a few other bloggers who have made this BIMAA cowl neck sweater from Lou Bee Clothing and their little girls look so fashionable! Too fancy!

bimaa-hoodie

And actually, there’s a hoodie version that can go both girlie or not! I think I want to try this one too!

carosuel dress

The Candy Carousel Dress from Molly Blossom Design is adorable! I also love her sketches of the doll modeling the dress! This is a another full on girlie girl dress for that special someone you might sew for!

owl backpack

So I don’t know why I didn’t feature this one the other day! But, the Owl Back Pack from The Sewing Loft, can be girlie if you want it to be. Or it can be very masculine. All depending on the fabric!

junebug

So if you put your kiddo in the adorable Junebug Dress from CINOshop she won’t be able to help being just as cute Jessica’s little lady! I’ve loved this dress since I first saw it on Jessica’s blog. I’m super excited to have it, even though I don’t know when I’ll make it!

Ananda_Shop_Cover

The Ananda Pants from Chopstix Patterns is my friend Jenny’s first ‘for sale’ pattern design and it’s another one that I want in my side! And it says it’s for girls, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be for boys, too!

zermatt-bow-update

And back to totally girlie and very cute! The ZERMATT bow swing coat from See Kate Sew. Nothing says girlie like a nice big bow! Adorable!

colorblocktee

The Tumble Tee from Imaginegnats is another cute girlie pattern. It’s not totally girlie, but has just enough design details that keep it in the girlie realm. I debated about this being on of the patterns that go either way, but I think it’s much closer to girlie than boy…

quilt

This cute quilt, the Gathers and Giggles quilt from Sew Much Ado, looks like another fun project. I’m not very good as selling girlie, since I keep realized that everything (almost) can be turned boy-ish as I wirte this! Like for instatance… This quilt! depending on the fabric, either way!

figgy

The NITUNA JACKET from Figgy’s Pattern is another cute one that I’m glad to have. It looks comfy, yet again!

colorblocktee sally%20dress%205%20(2)

And last but not least is the Sally Dress from Very Shannon !I love this dress! Our neighbor friend asked me when I was going to make her a dress… It might just be this one!

And can you believe that all those patterns would be over hundred dollars, but that you can get all these, plus 13 more, for only $29.95!?!

Have you bought the bundle yet? Who do you sew more for? a girlie? or a little boy kiddo??

Sew Fab Sale- My (non-girlie) Faves!

When I got notified of this second Sew Fab sale, I knew I wanted to be a part of it! But then I started thinking is it worth it? Or is it all kinda girlie????

Sew-Fab-F13-Collage-600x539

I had to make sure spending the $29.95 was worth the price and that I wasn’t just spending the money just because it’s an amazing deal! Are you like me? Sometimes, it’s just such a good deal you buy it without thinking about whether or not you’ll really use it… So I sat down and looked at each pattern to decide if it made sense for me to spend the $29.95 on a pattern bundle that I might or might not use…

I went through each and every pattern and debated, would I make it or not… And nothing against the girlie patterns, but since I rarely sew for girls, I took the dresses (and a couple of others) out of the equation… So just looking at the other patterns, out of the 26 patterns, I was still left with 13  patterns that I want to make right away. Just these patterns on their own would be 111.00! That’s half of the patterns for over 100 bucks! WOW!

hoodie2

I’ve been meaning to make a hoodie pattern, but now I’ve got this fun reversible one from Kitschy Coo Patterns.

harem

so what do you thnk about the harem pants? Yes? No? I’ve typically thought no… But the more I look at them, the more comfy they seem to be getting! I want to give them a try and let my son decide what he thinks! I’m actually kinda excited to make this harem pant pattern from Too Sweet Patterns.

notebookslipcoversquaretitle

Then there’s the notebook slipcover. I don’t know if I’d use it soon, since I don’t have notebooks. But this would be great gift for a lot of kids and teachers! And since my son will be starting school, as will his friends….  This Notebook Slipcover from Gingercake will make for some great gifts!

fancypants

These Fancy Pants leggings from Titchy Threads are hilarious! I love the back where you can add some fun details! And that you can make them short for maybe some little guy boxer shorts.

vintagev-neck5

The Vintage V-neck by Blank Slate Patterns is just a great staple to have on the shelf!

cardigan

The Greenpoint Cardigan by Hey June is one I’ve been eyeing… It’s another one that can go girl or boy! Living in Seattle, we have tons of weather that needs a sweater, but not really a big coat, so this could quickly become a staple!

skinnyjeans

I recently got my son some skinny jeans and they seem to transform him from a little kid into a little boy! I don’t know what it is, maybe they make him look taller or something??? Anyway, I can’t wait to try this Skinny Jeans pattern from Peek a Boo Patterns!

untitled

I love the PJ Eating Monster pattern from Sew Fearless! We have a friend that LOVES monsters, so I know who might be getting one of these for his next birthday!

cape-for-women1

There’s one pattern that I want to try for me! The Go To Cape from Go To Patterns! what do you think? Would this make a fun raincoat?

car mat

Want to know which pattern I’ll probably make first? This traveling Billy Car Mat by Handmade Therapy. All of a sudden my son has gotten really excited about his hot wheels. And a lot of the time we leave the house with handfuls of cars! This might make it just a little bit easier to lave the house!

patterncover

Another project that I love for me, but think would be a great gift idea is the Fold Over Clutch by LBJ Studio.

undies

And I’ve always wanted to try to make the kiddo undies out of knit scraps. Now I can with the Undies Pattern from From The Red Kitchen!

buttonup

Lastly, I love that I have this pattern for the button up shirt! Lately my son keeps picking his button up shirts out of his closet! I can’t wait to try the Sis Boom Ethan Boys’s Button-Up shirt from Scientific Seamstress.

Now, don’t get me wrong! I love the more girlie patterns too. And it’s not to say I won’t make them! There are actually a few dresses that I want to make, I just need to find the right friend to make one for!

But I wanted to showcase the patterns I know I’m going to try and I hope to try them soon! If I hadn’t just thrown my son a super hero party and have a line of dragon wings waiting to be sewn, I’d have already started!

And can you believe that all those patterns would be over hundred dollars, but that you can get all these, plus 13 more, for only $29.95!?!

Have you bought the bundle yet? Which pattern are you going to try first?
