I’m still not participating in the online swaps that I used to love, but I do try to play along with the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild Swaps! I miss the online ones, but I just stay too busy for them. The guild ones are a lot less work so they make up for my lick of online swapping!
This swap was to make a one hour basket! Very simple and easy! But let’s talk the one hour part… I could totally see it being a one hour project is you do NOT do quilting and only use one piece of fabric… But Since it’s a quilting guild, we quilt. And we quilted the one hour basket. So it’s was more like a two hour basket.
I’m on a flying geese kick lately! So my accent on the basket were a few sets of flying geese. I love The Pieceful Kwilter’s no waste flying geese tutorial. I think it’s the best way to make flying geese. They were supposed to all be going north or south, but at the last minute, one row took off towards the west!
The tutorial also includes nice little handles that take about 5 minutes!
Unlike the online swaps, we don’t have partners in the guild swaps. Hence the less time consuming part! So we make our projects and then put them in brown paper bags and pick. So my finished basket made it into a brown bag and then into the hands of another lovely quilter!
And this is the one in the lovely brown bag that I chose! I was floored! I had been snooping around IG and looking at the others that were made. THey were all fantastic, but I had my eye on this one. On the way to the meeting, I even thought to myself, I hope I get that one… THe one with the saying on it….
And I did! I couldn’t believe my luck! Especially after the paint chip challenge with I got the one color I really didn’t want! Now I have to find a spot for this basket! Thank you The Bespoke Outlaw for making me this awesome basket!
I love the basket you got!! And the basket that you made is awesome. I love little baskets like those since you can throw everything in them!
Thanks and thanks! I was pretty giddy to get the one I got!
I just love making the 1 hour baskets…but, I’ve yet to do it in one hour either! I love both of the ones you show here…the one you made with the flying geese is so very well made and I love the saying on the one you received!!
Thanks! I have a feeling more will be in my future!
So glad you lucked out! Both baskets are terrific!
So am I! I was shocked! Especially after the one paint chip that I didn’t want for that project! 🙂
Congrats on getting that cute basket! And yours is adorable — i think it’s perfect with the one set of geese flying in the other direction!
Thanks! I love it when you move off from the planned version and it works out nicer than originally planned!
