The Grumpy Cat Halloween Pillow

I grew up with cats, but now I’m allergic, so I’m totally a dog person. But as soon as I saw The Grumpy Cat pattern by Sew Fresh Quilts, I knew I had to make it!

The last thing I needed was another Halloween pillow, but I love, really love, Halloween pillows! Anything Halloween really… And since I have a ton of Halloween fabric, I need ot use it, right?? So I purchased the pattern from Sew Fresh Quilts Etsy store.

The Grumpy Cat a super easy make! It also comes in two sizes. I made the small one at about 8×10 inches.

Are you also curious about the pumpkin? Now this is a pattern that I didn’t purchase… I just winged it. It’s inspired by the Mini Pumpkins pattern from Sew Kind Of Wonderful using the Mini Quick Curve Ruler. I’d recommend buying the pattern so your pumpkins aren’t lopsided like mine are! But for my pillow it works. I love the little pumpkins though!

GrumpyCatPillow-Back-ImFeelinCrafty

I just used a bright orange for the back. And I didn’t use an envelope style pillow. I put a zipper in it. My go to used to always be the envelope back, but I think it’s going to be the invisible zipper from now on!

I’m loving this invisible zipper! This one isn’t quite as invisible as others I’ve made, but pretty close. I use a couple of tutorials, one from Sew Katie Did and one from Stitched in Color, for the invisible zipper.

So there you have it! Another Halloween Pillow to add to my collection! I kinda want to make a quilt to. One grumpy cat at the bottom with a bunch of pumpkins… Maybe a witch’s hat? Who knows! I’m finishing my second Halloween quilt now, so I don’t know if I ever will, but I like the idea.

What are you stitching this Halloween?

A Halloween Pillow

Well, I had started a Halloween quilt back in January, I think… Despite the 10 months, I didn’t get it done….

No quilt, but I did get a pillow done! And I love it! I keep looking at it admiringly as I walk by the couch!

HalloweenPillow-Inside-ImFeelinCrafty

I also like seeing it with the other pillows I’ve made over the years. I love seeing the different styles and fabrics I’m into over the years!

Halloween-Fabric-ImFeelinCrafty

For the pillow, I’m using a lot of the fabrics that I’m using my quilt. Or a different color way… Most of the fabrics are from the Cotton and Steel collections. I LOVE their holiday lines! LOVE them! Was this the best fabric to use for tiny piecing? I don’t know, really!

HalloweenPillow-Class-ImFeelinCrafty

Last month I took a paper piecing class with Giuseppe Ribaudo, aka Guicy Guice. I’m not sure why I did, since I’m pretty well versed in paper piecing. Honestly, when I signed up, I thought it was a small piecing class, not paper piecing. It never dawned on me that his small piecing was paper piecing! Ha! Anyway, I’m glad I did! He shared his Mini patterns with us and I picked Courthouse Step block. I almost didn’t go because I had so much birthday party stuff going on and the whole paper piecing thing. But I’m glad I did! he was super nice and a lot of fun. And I loved seeing what everyone else made from the patterns! And I love my block!

Guicy Guice centers a lot of his minis in a neutral background so I thought this neon bat fabric would be great. And I did some matchstick quilting. I love doing matchstick quilting on small projects. One day I’ll do it on a larger project. maybe… ha!

HalloweenPillow-Back-ImFeelinCrafty

I loved this fabric so much that I bought it in two color ways!

HalloweenPillow-Zipper-ImFeelinCrafty

And if you know my pillows, I always do envelope backs because I’m kinda lazy that way… But this time I decided to put a zipper in it. I used to always put zippers in pillows. Especially when I was selling pillows. If I can do it when I’m selling them to other people,, why can’t I do it for myself? I did use Sew Katie Did’s tutorial to remind myself how to do it. Its’ not hard at all, but I used to be better at hiding the zipper than I did on this one. Luckily the fabric matches it!

Have a Happy Halloween from my photo assistants!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

This year was a bust… First off, I didn’t get to make a costume. The kiddo decided to be Harry Potter and we had already purchased most of the pieces. He’d been planning this for months! And then tonight he came home from school with 102 degree fever. So, while the other kids were getting dressed and heading out for some haunting, we hunkered down and watched a movie. The worst Halloween he said. Poor Kid!

But I made another Halloween pillow! I’m so excited to trade it with a friend for a piece of art!

HalloweenPillow-PIllowBat-ImFeelinCrafty

I used my bat pattern that I have on Etsy! It was fun to break out the pattern again! It’s pretty quick and easy!

HalloweenPillow-PIllowDtl-ImFeelinCrafty

I through is a little piece of with one of my favorite Halloween fabrics! I used this same fabric on my Halloween quilt from a few years back.

HalloweenPillow-PIllowBack-ImFeelinCrafty

I always say I’m going to add a zipper back, but then I never have one when I need one. So I always resort back to the envelope style back. And I’m fine with that! At least until I buy a stash of zippers…

HalloweenPillow-Sleeping-ImFeelinCrafty

According to this guy, it’s pretty comfy too!

A Ghostly Pillow and a Giveaway!

I’m so excited about 2 things! One, I made a new Halloween pillow! And two, I got to review a fantastic pillow from Pillowcubes!

PillowCube-MainGhost-ImFeelinCrafty

First, What do you think about the ghost? Like I’ve said, I love Halloween. Last year it was bats…This year ghosts… I’m going to tell more about the quilt block this weekend, so stay tuned!

PillowCube-Pillow-ImFeelinCrafty

And now… I’m so spoiled! When I usually buy pillow inserts they are not fancy from a big box store that I won’t name… But I don’t know if I can go back! The pillow that Pillowcubes sent me is the 90/10 Down Feather pillow and it’s AMAZING! So different from those others that I usually get! It’s just soft and cuddly. Perfectly made. And it looks perfect in my pillowcase!

PillowCube-HandMade-ImFeelinCrafty

I recently posted about the American Made Brand and how it’s made in the USA. Well, so are Pillowcubes. They are made by real hands right here in the US in Tennessee! So cool!

PillowCube-Pillow2-ImFeelinCrafty

When I first started talking to Pillowcubes, they only shipped by the case. I don’t know about you, but I don’t typically make that many pillows at once. But the super cool thing is that now you don’t have to buy by the case! You can order just one if you want just one! And I recently priced it out to those other big box stores and to order the same pillow online was a couple of dollars less then buying at the store. And to be buying handmade from a real person…. Can you guess where my next pillow form is coming from?

PillowCube-HandChop-ImFeelinCrafty

I always see design shows where they hand chop the pillows. You know what I’m talking about right? With the hand chop? Most of mine don’t really take the hand chop well. But this one does! Oh, yeah!
