You’re Cool, Valentine! Printable Penguin Valentine Tags

Who loves penguins??? We do! Who loves stuffies? We do!

I like to make class Valentines about something the kiddo is excited about and not just about candy! Once we did Astro-Ordinary crayons. And another year we did Legos.  We also did Pokémon Valentines, but I lost the pictures of those… I need to find them… Anyway… Back to the penguins!

We didn’t want to do a penguin with a heart sewn on it or glued on it. And we wanted him standing up, so we finally narrowed it down to a Christmas penguin.

PenguinValentine-Before-ImFeelinCrafty

We ordered these little guys online. But of course, their scarfs would not do for Valentine’s Day. Nope! So we took them off. They were sewn on, but only with one stitch or so. Easy to get off. We used the Christmas scarf as our template for the red Valentine’s Day scarfs.

And I designed the tags. You’ve probably seen my Quilt Design a Day ‘sketches’. To make those I use an app called Assembly, so I thought it would be fun to try to design the Valentine tag in the app as well. And we loved the way it turned out!

Then came the assembly line. We actually added a tiny ribbon to the tag, slipped the scarf through it and then double knotted the scarf on the penguins!

Soon enough we had a ton of Valentine’s Day gifts for the whole class and some special others.

You can download the penguin Valentine tags for yourself here. I have two sizes. First I made the 3″ tags (9 to a page) and then realized it was just too big. So then I made a 2″ tag (12 to a page) and they were just right!

These are for personal use only! Thank you!

Have you decided on your Valentine’s for this year?

A Valentine’s Printable for You

Amidst all the sewing this week, my son and I took some time out to be crafty! We are making Valentine’s!

Valentine-card-I'mFeelin'Crafty

Quilt inspired Valentine’s that is!

I was totally inspired by S.O.T.A.K. Handmade’s pixelated heart pillow. When I first saw it I thought I’d make a few for Valentine’s gifts, but then realized I might not make it in time…. So instead of sewing it, we decided to glue it!

Valentine-Cutting-I'mFeelin'Crafty

Consider your self warned though…. If you use my printable you must cut a bunch of 1/4 inch squares. You may think, oh, these are small. Easy! Right? Easy yes, quick no! It took me much longer to cut out all the squares than I thought it would. But once you get them cut…. Fun times! My son decided to take a shower while I finished cutting the little squares and I was still cutting when he got back. I heard him (’cause he’s really loud! Are all 4 year olds this loud???) telling his Dad that he had to get back upstairs to make his Valentine. When he came back he was like, ‘WHAT???? you’re STILL cutting???’ Yes, dear….. I’m still cutting out little bitty, teeny, tiny squares!

But once the cutting was done, we were on our way to some super cool Valentine’s!

As we were starting, I was about to correct my son, yes, he’s 4, and get him to get all the little 1/4 inch squares of paper to align perfect in the grid. Then I breathed, because I can get a little OCD when it comes to details like this, and let him go! And I love how his turned out! Even if it doesn’t fit in the teeny tiny grid! HA!

And of course, he loved his role of acting SUPER excited to get mail! I also added a little heart glued to the outside of the envelope. You know I’m a sucker for the wrap around address labels or something, at least, added to the envelope too. So this year, instead of the address label, I’m adding the ‘coordinating’ heart on the outside!

Ready for the printable? I have a few versions!

If I scared you about cutting all those little pieces, you can download the card with it already colored in. With the grid, here. I think the grid gives it a little more of a quilt-y feel.

Or you can download the already colored in version without the grid, here.

And if you are a little on the OCD side like me, and are super excited about cutting all the little pieces, you can download the grid with the ‘gluing guidelines’, here!

Enjoy and Have a great Valentine’s Day!

Sending a Love Note

So I’ve been punching and punching and punching and…. (you get the point!) Hearts and holes! the first project I did the hearts for was our Valentine’s.

I love how they turned out!

And they were super simple. No tutorial needed, but I did take a picture of the matierials I used. The paper punch, paper, thread, double sided tape and envelopes! That’s aout it.. Ooh! and the sewing machine and the computer! (They didn’t fit in the picture!) I just punched th hearts out. Then I printed the Happy Valentine’s Day on the white paper. Cut out the white and pink paper to fit the envelope. Then I stitched on the hearts, added double sided tape and inserted the pink paper and stuck them together.

I also made my address labels that I love. And I couldnt resist another opportunity to use my little heart punch!!

Did you make Valentine’s this year? are you wishing for anything for Valentine’s Day? I’m wishing for some chocolate covered strawberries! I just sent my son downstairs to eat his strawberries with his dad and told him to ask his dad to order some chocolate covered strawberries… I wonder if it will work!
