Merry Christmas!

From my family to Yours!

IMG_1030 copy

We were making wishes tonight and my son wished for everyday to be Christmas. I don’t want everyday to be Christmas, but I would like to see the kindness of Christmas last all year.

I’m taking the rest of the year off from the blog, but will be back after the first of the year! I’m going to enjoy the family and some sewing. I hope you can do the same!

Thanks for reading!

Ice Castle Kit In a Bag!

Calling all Frozen fans!! Or should I say, calling everyone giving a Frozen fan a gift this year!!

IceCastleKit-Main-ImFeelinCrafty

My son was invited to a Frozen birthday party last week and I was debating what to give. I wanted it Frozen themed, but I didn’t want it to be too ‘Frozeny’…. If you know what I mean!

IceCastleKit-Label-ImFeelinCrafty

Then I figured it out! Years ago I saw the DIY Fort Kit by Saltwater Kids. For real. I’ve wanted to make a DIY Fort Kit for YEARS! But I changed it up a bit and made it Frozen themed….

IceCastleKit-Main2-ImFeelinCrafty

IceCastleKit-Contents-ImFeelinCrafty

IceCastleKit-Fabrics-ImFeelinCrafty

Most of the supplies came from the dollar store. We stocked it with clothespins, clips, suction cups, rope, double stick tape and fabric. And of course, you can’t have an ice castle without snowflakes! Now, here comes the expensive part… The fabric. The fort kit uses sheets. For this one, I wanted more of a see thru icy feel so I bought sheer fabrics. 7 yards of fabric that is! I used 4 yards of the iridescent fabric and 3 yards of the sheer. Then we did throw in a white sheet.

IceCastleKit-Hooks-ImFeelinCrafty

I also used ribbon for the ‘hooks’. I cut 6″ pieces of the ribbon, folded it over and sewed it on to the fabric pieces. I put a hook on each corner, one in the very center and one on each center of the long side… Does that make sense? But then on the white, I added a couple more hooks where I thought I’d need them. There’s no real rule here!

IceCastleKit-InTheBag-ImFeelinCrafty

And I made the bag too… I kept putting off the bag because I couldn’t find the right fabric for it. One night I was going to stop by the fabric store and my son didn’t want to. I wish I could remember what he said, but whatever it was, it totally inspired me to make my own!

IceCastleKit-StampSupplies-ImFeelinCrafty

IceCastleKit-Stamp-ImFeelinCrafty

I just happened to have bought these foam snowflakes about 3 years ago and never used them. Perfect! And then I just happened to have a block of wood the right size. I just used some double stick tape and stuck the foam flake on there, painted it and stamped it! Easy!

IceCastleKit-Castle-ImFeelinCrafty

Of course I had to try it out before I wrapped it! AWESOME! It made putting a fort together so simple. You have all your pieces right there. The hooks make it simple to rig it up to your furniture and doors and windows! My son really wants one, but he did request one, ‘that’s not a Frozen theme.’

IceCastleKit-Label2-ImFeelinCrafty

What do you think? Are you off to the dollar store for supplies right now!!?? You can print the label here!

Would you add anything else? Let me know!

A New Christmas Pillow

This project started out as a mistake, but turned into something I love!

ChristmasPillow-Main-ImFeelinCrafty

A new Christmas pillow!

ChristmasPillow-Three-ImFeelinCrafty

ChristmasPillow-Oops-ImFeelinCraftyI was making these blocks for our last do.Good Stitches quilt of the year and I totally made a mess out of the directions. I don’t know why I couldn’t seem to get it right. Anyway, I ended up having a bunch of little half square triangles that were smaller than they were supposed to be. I knew I had to do something with the pieces!

ChristmasPillow-Dtl-ImFeelinCrafty

The pattern is for the Moda Love block.

ChristmasPillow-Dtl2-ImFeelinCrafty

With the input of awesome Seattle Modern Quilt Guild friends, I ended up adding the border and quilting the top to make into our new pillow!

ChristmasPillow-Zipper-ImFeelinCrafty

I added a zipper. I used to always do this, but then went back to the easier envelope back style. But this time I decided to add the zipper. I just happened to have a green one out on my table, so I used it!

ChristmasPillow-Back-ImFeelinCrafty

There’s nothing too special about the back….

ChristmasPillow-Last-ImFeelinCrafty

I’m so happy I didn’t just scrap my mistake pieces! I think it turned out just lovely for a Christmas pillow, or an any time of year pillow for that matter!

September do.Good Stitches Quilt

My second do.Good Stitches quilt for the Nurture Circle is a success! If I do say so myself!

SeptDoGood-Main-ImFeelinCraftyThe family loves it so much, they asked if I could donate money and keep the quilt…. Um, no. But I’m glad they like it!

SeptDoGood-FrontMain-ImFeelinCrafty

I’ve been wanting to do a half square triangle quilt for some time now. There is a ton of inspiring ones out there, for sure. But I wanted the blocks BIG! So we each did two 20″ squares! We followed the tutorial at That girl that quilt, method one. We started with (2) 15 inch squares of different colors, sewed around the edges and cut per the tutorial. This leaves you with (4) 10.25 HST squares. For more variation, you actually need to do it 3 times, which actually gives you enough for 3 blocks.

SeptDoGood-Back-ImFeelinCrafty

I guess I could have made a super huge quilt, but instead I did something I have never attempted before… I made the back and front of the quilt the same! When I was basting it, I realized it was a little trickier than I realized it was going to be to match up all the lines. It’s not perfectly aligned, but it’s pretty close!

SeptDoGood-QuiltingDtl-ImFeelinCrafty

The other problem with making the same front and back was that it was hard to come up with a quilting pattern. If I followed the triangles on the front, it wouldn’t be the same on the back… They are the same, but the triangles don’t necessarily go in the same directions! So I picked this grid pattern! I like it!

SeptDoGood-COlors-ImFeelinCrafty

SeptDoGood-Blocks-ImFeelinCraftyI also love the colors! Have you read The Invention of Wings? It’s fantastic! It’s about slave ownership and two sisters that grow to fight slave discredit and abolish the owning of slaves. Which doesn’t sound like a very fun topic, but trust me it’s awesome! The two main slaves in the story are the seamstresses for the family and they are also quilters. In the first few pages they describe a quilt they are making and it’s these colors, pink, orange, red and purple. And black. I was totally inspired. I knew I wanted to put these colors together with a half square triangle quilt!

SeptDoGood-Binding-ImFeelinCrafty

My original intent was to add in some black once I got the blocks. But I loved it just the way it was without the black. So then I was going to bind it in black…. But obviously, I didn’t do that either. I used a scrappy binding combining all the colors of the quilt.

SeptDoGood-Front-ImFeelinCrafty

I also wanted all solids. I used Kona Solid Kumquat for orange, Kona Solid Tomato for the red and Kona solid Pink for (You guessed it) the pink. The purple is a Clothworks. The white is also Kona Solid White. Each person used at least 3 colors and white.

SeptDoGood-FoldedLable-ImFeelinCrafty

Our group uses the labels and I love how perfect the colors matched!

SeptDoGood-WrappedSitting-ImFeelinCrafty

I’m also super excited that this one, plus two others from our circle, was nominated to be in the do.Good Stitches Quilt Show at Quiltcon! I’ll know soon if it made the cut or not!

SeptDoGood-WrappedWhite-ImFeelinCrafty

Our quilts go to My Very Own Blanket, an organization that give foster kids their very own blanket. I recently learned that they personalize each quilt with the child’s name. I certainly hope that whoever gets this one loves it as much as my kiddo does!

giveawaydaydec8.jpg (138×138)

GiveawayDay-Main-ImFeelinCrafty

This giveaway day we decided to use fabric from her beach shop, Beach Bum Fabrics! If you follow me on pinterest, you know I love some great beach house inspiration! I love living by the water and so does my buddy Monica, the shop owner! Since I was 10, I have never lived far from water and I can’t imagine living anywhere inland. It makes me claustrophobic! So, when Monica suggested that this giveaway be from her specialty shop, I, of course, said yes!

GiveawayDay-Octopus-ImFeelinCrafty

It all started with those adorable jellyfish! In real life, I hate jellyfish! And those tentacles that stick to the crab traps and then to your pier and still sting when you kneel on them as you lower the trap back over the edge of the pier. Yep. Not a fan! Can you tell that that might have actually happened? and that I was scarred by that event? Well… As much as I don’t like them in real life, I LOVE illustrations of them! So this bundle all started with the jellyfish!

GiveawayDay-Five-ImFeelinCrafty

Once we had the jellyfish picked out, I added the other prints and found the awesome solids to pull them all together!

This giveaway is a fat quarter bundle of five different fabrics! 3 prints and 2 solids. The prints include:

Jellyfish from the Splash Collection by Timeless Treasures

Lures from the Fly Aweigh Collection by Samantha Walker

Makin’ Waves from the Shore Thing Collection by Michael Miller

Santa and Our Christmas List Printable

It’s that time of year again! That time of year where Santa comes to town!

SantaPics-Santa-ImFeelinCrafty

Please excuse the pictures, I totally forgot my camera! What??? I know! No idea what I was thinking! Our local Mall contacted me about taking pictures with Santa before Thanksgiving. At first I was thinking no… I don’t do Christmas before Thanksgiving. But then that weekend, Dad had to work, so it was just the kiddo and myself hanging, so I said why not??? And of course the kiddo didn’t mind!

LetterToSanta-Title-I'mFeelin'Crafty

SantaPics-Letter-ImFeelinCrafty

So we updated the date on our Christmas List, printed it and started filling in the blanks! You can get the updated letter here to download.LetterToSanta-Writing-I'mFeelin'Crafty

We’ve been loving this list for a few years now! From 2012 to now!

SantaPics-Walking-ImFeelinCrafty

SantaPics-Talking-ImFeelinCrafty

So we headed to the mall!  The kiddo got to go over his list with Santa and chat about whether he was naughty or nice (of course he was nice!) and smile for the photo!

SantaPics-Santa2-ImFeelinCrafty

Have you been naughty or nice this year?? Santa knows! And despite my griping about going early, we had a great time visiting with Jolly Old St. Nick!

Stylish Slippers!

I’m still here! I got a little off track with blogging with some things going on in my world that actually put blogging on the back burner. But I’m back!

Slippers-Main-ImFeelinCrafty

And I’m back with a super fun project! I recently got to test my bloggin’ buddy’s, Mel from Filles a Maman, newest pattern for some super warm slippers!  The pattern is awesome since it’s one pattern for the whole family!

Slippers-SideMain-ImFeelinCrafty

The pattern is intended for both knit and fleece. For mine I used fleece on the outside and knit on the inside. The funny thing was I had this big bag of scraps that I was about to give away, but I had to grab it and pull it back downstairs to get the fleece scraps to make the slippers! See, I just kept saying I don’t need these scraps, but as soon as I go to get rid of them, I need them!  Anyway….

Slippers-Topside-ImFeelinCrafty

And I made them for me! I’m glad I did, but Mel asked me to make my size. I still want to make some for the kiddo, too. And maybe even Dad! Maybe even the Grandparents…. So many options!

Slippers-Top-ImFeelinCrafty

The pattern is a very quick sew. I think it took about 1.5 hours, from start to finish! The pattern is very well written and the diagrams make it super easy to follow!

Slippers-Bottom-ImFeelinCrafty

The bottom calls for the non slip fabric that you put in the foot of pj’s. You can get this at Joann’s, or she tells you a secret of how to make it yourself! Well, I don’t know if it’s really a secret or not… Puffy paint!

full_5481_122616_StylishSlippers_1

And best of all…. It’s only $5.95 on Craftsy for only a day or so more! So buy it now!
